Now that the busy rental season is over calls are fewer and more people are “just getting an idea of what it would cost”. We need to sharpen up our sales technique and put maximum effort into each and every call to keep the reservations flowing. I have made a real attempt to tighten up my presentation by going back to basics. I pulled out the basic script that was given me in training and have it before me. Many callers are looking for a bargain and the store offered specials are really important. It is also necessary to make sure that your timing is good and you hold that special for the extra encouragement to rent. We find callers who are already experiencing holiday stresses and need to make sure to have our friendliest voices and best smiles on when we answer.Some self storage facilities are sold out of popular sizes. It requires creativity to get to get the caller the space they need even by offering multiple units. Sometimes a caller with a few items that require climate control and a lot that do not can be served by a larger standard unit and a small climate control.
