What About Call Centers and Self Storage?

  • In this competitive market many people are looking for a way to get ahead of the game. In the storing world, many companies believe that they have a great understanding of business and how to improve the game of storing your own belongings.

    There are many companies today that are motivated to take business from their competition and build their own profits. Some people think that more advertising is the key where other people use an external service that evaluates their services. Many companies out there have figured out that if you do not rent spaces, you go out of business. That epiphany was a mystery for some time.

    The companies that have figured out how to get customers into the store and or get customers to reserve a space when the manager is not present are the ones that are outsmarting the competition. Most companies utilize a call center type environment that is able to take phone calls for the stores that are not able to get to the phone. Those call centers are able to rent the self storage units to the callers the same way they could get them if they went down to the facility. How great is that to know for a manager that if they cannot get to the phone, the customer can still be served!

    The companies that are taking advantage of the call center business are doing great with having their self storage units rented. Sometimes the call center representatives do so well that the owners of the storing facilities only want the call center to answer the calls while the manager on the facility takes care of in store visits.

    The call center is supposed to be nice to the caller, be thorough so the caller does not have any questions and get the caller into the store. If they can get the caller into the store, the manager at the location is able to complete and find the right self storage units for them. It should be an easy and smooth process in which the caller does not feel that the manager on site is any other than the person they talked to on the phone. A successful call center will not appear as such.

    So, in a perfect world, the call center would be able to be perfect and rent out self storage units for the facility on every single call. However, not every caller is looking to store, some just want to pay a bill or rent a truck. A good call center will handle the issues they have jurisdiction over and guide the customer to the manager if necessary.
     
    We all know that we have to be smart in the business world. We have to make intelligent decisions in order to stay above the profit line. For a lot of companies using the call center services to rent self storage units , they are very cautious to want to continue. It is not a cheap service to have a company that is not associated with you answer the calls for you. On the other hand, call center reservation may be what is keeping your business out of the red.

    They are a business as well that wants to succeed. At the same time though, they are a service that you are paying for. When you feel that they are not selling self storage units for you the way you want, you have the right to ask questions.

    Call centers turn your missed calls into possible rentals for you company. Some people think it is a great thing to have. Some people think it is a waste of their money to have someone answering the phones for them. If your spaces stay empty for a long period of time, it might be a waste of time to have your doors open.
