I learned about self storage selling cultures by helping to create The PhoneSmart Off-Site Sales Force. PhoneSmart was founded by StorageMart to serve as a call center, in order to turn missed phone calls at self storage properties into rental opportunities. PhoneSmart was created not just to help StorageMart grow its business, but to serve other storage owners who were looking for ways to improve their businesses. We created selling systems, training systems, sales auditing systems and new ways to generate customers. This has helped us to learn how self storage customers think and act and how owners and managers of self storage properties think and act. In our first six years of doing business, we served storage properties in forty-seven states and five Canadian provinces and had more than a million conversations with self storage customers and prospective customers. We sent our clients more than 325,000 leads and reservations. We continue to tweak our systems and create new service offerings that help our clients rent to more people, keep them longer and generate more revenue from each customer. Our business thrives by constantly raising the bar in the industry.
