Self Storage, Not Just For Moving
-
Who would have thought that there are special tips for those in need of shoe storage? By and large, is this not the kind of information only required by those who have excessive footwear? Surprisingly, you may find that you, too, with your six or ten pairs of shoes can benefit from succinct shoe storage tips that will help your footwear remain functional longer.
First and foremost, resist the temptation of purchasing a plastic shoe rack. While these may be great for the flip flops you wear to take the trash outside, or the sandals you might want to put on while you are taking the dog for a walk around the block, this is not the kind of device you want to use to store your dress shoes.
Shoes come in boxes for a reason: they are protected from the elements, animals, and pressure. While for many, the cardboard boxes are not functional, the see through plastic shoe boxes available for sale in many general merchandise stores are wonderful! Shoes made from leather always need to be protected from moisture and animals – keep in mind that it is not just your cat or dog who might want to do some damage to your leather boots. Foot wear made from fabric also needs to be protected, generally from bugs such as moths and certain beetles.
Pieces of newspaper crunched up and places inside the shoes will keep moisture out while keeping the footwear properly formed. Containers used for shoe storage should be snug fitting but not so small that you need to cram the shoes inside.
