The self storage facilities providers have provisions for storing virtually every possible type of item you can think of. While some may be integrated facilities that provide household goods storing along with car, RV and boat storeroom, most often, specialized storing facilities are preferred for storing items such as cars, boats, RVs, documents, wine, etc. These units are geared towards providing additional services for that specific product.

For instance a wine storing unit would typically have racks to store the bottles on their side as well as the right amount of lighting to allow the wine to mature without getting spoilt.

Similarly, car storing units might also have a car washing facility that can come in very handy particularly when you are taking the vehicle out of storing after a significant length of time. Storing facilities for boats are usually located close to the waterfront so that the boats can be brought and taken to the water easily.

Apart from the type of goods which each store house keeps, such facilities are also distinguished based on the types of units they offer. Therefore units can vary according to size the smallest ones hold clothes that fit into one closet, while the really big ones can hold all furniture and other goods of a large house.

Units can also vary according to the type of service provided, climate control being an important feature. The presence of this feature in self storage facilities prevents goods from getting damaged by mold or mildew. Items which lose their sheen and color because of excessive heat and humidity are best stored in climate controlled units.

Security features are another important consideration. The most basic units are located in a gated complex. From that level on, you can rent a unit with digital access control, video surveillance cameras and even laser grid control.
