Remind Santa’s Helpers
-
It’s Christmas day, blessed with white snow and the smell of a crackling fire. Carols, the songs of joy, play in the background. The Christmas tree is a magnificent site. The star is radiant on top complemented below by glistening tinsel and gleaming lights. Each ornament has a history and a story to tell about past Christmas memories. Underneath this spectacular symbol of bliss is nothing but a tree stand with Rover licking it dry.
Where are the presents? They are under lock and key at StorageMart because Santa neglected to check the access hours for Christmas Eve, or forgot to pay rent on the storage unit where all of the Christmas gifts for nice children are kept.
The kids are crying because the presents are missing and are wondering why they ended up on the naughty list. The parents feel awful and come up with awkward excuses for Santa’s tardiness. But the kids are smarter then that. They find out their neighborhood friends received presents and start to question the existence of Santa Clause.
This scenario is well too common every year with self storage customers. They waited too long to get their Christmas presents out of their storage units and Christmas is delayed. At the StorageMart call center, we are still answering phones for StorageMart mid-day Christmas Eve. Without fail there are calls from desperate customers who, perhaps disorientated from holiday stress, disregarded the access hours or are locked out because the access code was disabled due to nonpayment. Aware of the dire situation, the StorageMart sales and customer service agents will try to locate the local self storage manager, the hero who unlocks the gait or rectifies the payment situation. But like all of us, the local StorageMart manager is a mortal and has traveled out of town to be with family and friends.
Storing Christmas presents in self storage is a grand idea; it is the perfect spot to hide presents from snoopy kids or anxious loved ones. To keep it the perfect hiding location, remember to do two things recommended by StorageMart.
1) Make sure the rent is paid up to date to maintain access to the self storage units.
2) Double check the local self storage unit provider’s office hours and pick up the gifts while the office is open.
This way, if there is a problem or a question, it can be solved easily. This will ensure that one goes home with gifts and to happiness.
One of the property management trends is to inform the self storage customer of this recurring misfortune of circumstances and hopefully put an end to it. Property managers need to make it a point to inform the gift hiding customer of the holiday access hours and of the importance of staying current on rent payments. Including such a reminder could save a family’s holiday season.
