Promotions At PhoneSmart

I just received one of PhoneSmart’s highest honors by becoming a weekend and on call supervisor. No more than 15 minutes after getting the promotion I found out that our night supervisor had hurt his back and wouldn’t be able to come in. So I decided to step up to the plate and cover for him, since I could do that now. A couple hours later I came in on my day off to make sure that the call center was all under control. The job definitely wasn’t what I was expecting, but at this point I was up for just about anything.

As soon as I walked in the door I was bombarded. Every single person who was working had something they needed help with, and they all decided to tell me at the same time. Honestly I’m not sure if they had been planning to drive me crazy as soon as I got in the door or not, but nevertheless there was still work to do. I had technically been a supervisor for about 30 seconds, and wasn’t sure if I was going to make it through the next few minutes let alone the rest of the night.

After answering everyone’s question and figuring out how scheduling would go the rest of the night, more problems arose. The queues had gotten backed up, and when I went to reset the system, (something I had learned how to do only a few hours ago) the system just shut down and zero leads were going through. So I called our tech guy and he helped me fix the problem.

After all of that, everything seemed to calm down and it was smooth sailing from there. I now know that this job isn’t going to just be a cake walk and feel confident that I’m up to the challenge.
