On To The Holidays!

Well, it’s the day after Thanksgiving and hopefully you have had your fill of turkey and the trimmings. The day after Thanksgiving is a huge shopping day, with retailers trying to have at least one more big purchase day in the last quarter of the year. Having spent many years in retail, I will tell you first hand that the day after Thanksgiving only rivals the day after Christmas, but not in purchases. The day after Christmas everyone wants to exchange and return anything that didn’t fit or was the wrong color or the wrong item or simply wasn’t liked.

The day after Thanksgiving also is a good day for self storage. The weeks leading up to Thanksgiving make for a time of fast paced lifestyles. Planning a get together, kids being out of school, the uncertainty of the weather all make for a busy November. Now that Thanksgiving is over, people will shift their focus to the upcoming Holidays. It doesn’t matter if you celebrate Christmas, Hanukah, Kwanzaa or some other religious or spiritual Holiday; it’s a bustling time of year.

Self storage businesses use the colder months to slow down a little. Not too much though, there is still plenty of folks out there that need self storage at any time of the year. Home remodeling, an unwelcoming home accident, a scheduled or unscheduled visit from a family member or relative, a new addition to the family, a new pet, a change in jobs or something else could trigger the need for self storage.
