Happy Fourth Of July!

We have made it to another Fourth of July. This is about the middle of the self storage season. We have the 2nd Quarter behind us now. How was your Q2? It looks like our clients had a softer June than we anticipated. We saw fewer calls per store and fewer reservations per store than we had forecasted. So this year has been a little off-kilter. March was strong. April was okay. May was quite good and June was off.  It would be easy to point to the housing market and say, It’s their fault! But I do not know that this is completely accurate.

I do see some responses to the unusual and somewhat unpredictable season our clients are experiencing. They are looking for more ways for us to help them rent more units. That might be reviewing processes to make sure we have all the tools we can get to help sell their stores better. It might mean adding stores to our service suite that are slipping somewhat in occupancy. Some clients have had highly occupied stores that they chose not to put with PhoneSmart. Some of theses stores are now in need of some help.

We are also seeing a big boost in requests for help with sales training and secret shopping. Clients are trying to make sure no rental opportunities slip by. Fortunately, PhoneSmart has the skills and the services available to be of great value to our clients.

I am curious to see what July brings. Over the last several years, July was a little softer than June, but not by much. Let me know what you are experiencing in your market.
