If one is lucky enough to be in the position of being offered a sabbatical, take advantage of it to the fullest. Pack up and go. Find a safe and secure self storage facility, get packed up and stored, and take that sabbatical leave, knowing upon return, everything is going to be there as left.

Whether that sabbatical is six months or one year, plan to prepay for the store room, find out if there are any discounts for paying in advance, there are usually price discounts offered for paying in advance at the six month and annual time periods. If planning to pay online make sure the facility offers online accounting or automatic billing. Take full advantage of the protection plan. This will ensure that should the unlikely event of fire, theft, or water pipe breaking occur, there is compensation for any potential loss. In choosing the best facility, keep in mind that the self storage facility that offers a wide range of amenities and security options, is an indication the facility is professionally managed and customer service oriented. Pricing is competitive in the store room business. If there is a large rift in pricing, outside of incentive introductory offers at the nationally owned store room facilities, the difference in price is directly related to the amenities and security offered. A great price quote should not be the only determinate factor in choosing a self storage facility, as a great monthly price compensates for no security and poor customer service should the unthinkable happen. Plan for the worse possible scenario, and ask what to expect, if while away there would be a fire, theft or water damage at the facility. The facility manager will be able to convey exactly what procedures are in place so there is no question as to what emergency response mechanisms are in place. Peace of mind is the most important thing.
