Find A Moving Service

Shopping around for a moving service may not seem like a lot of fun.  I mean, right from the start, you know that you are going to be on the phone for quite a while.  You know that you are going to have to get tons of quotes, and you know that there is going to be a lot of fine print to sift through.  Really, though, if you are giving yourself enough time to get this work done, then you are not going to have to endure all that much stress.  You can get all of your chores done if you give yourself two or three weeks to call around and make all of the reservations that you are going to need.

Of course, the first thing that you are going to need, here, is a truck.  I could go into why you are going to need a moving truck, but honestly, I think that it is pretty obvious.  If you would prefer to hire a moving service purely for the convenience of having them load your truck, then, well, you have to find the truck first.  Call around to your local moving truck companies at least two weeks ahead of time, comparing the quotes that you get.  When you have found a truck that’s as big as you are going to need it, then you can reserve it well ahead of time.

Next, you are going to want to pack all of your belongings.  It is going to be hard for moving companies to give you quotes if you do not have a solid feel for how much stuff you are going to be moving.  Thus, you are going to want to set about packing up all of your belongings before you begin searching for moving quotes.  If you can manage, pile all of your boxes in one room to get a feel for how much space they take up.  When you are calling around, you can give your local moving services a much better feel for how much time it is going to take them to get all of your belongings into your truck.

Finally, once you have packed up all of your belongings, you are going to be able to start calling the moving services to get a feel for how much the moving process is going to cost you.  Most of these services are going to charge by the hour, which means that you are going to have to take their quotes with a grain of salt.  Also, be sure that you are keeping your eyes peeled for all of the fine print that is bound to come your way.  Moving services are no strangers to fees, so you have to be sure that you really know what you are getting yourself into before you sign anything.

So long as you are willing to do your homework before you begin to shop around, you are not going to run into any serious problems when it comes to taking advantage of a moving service.  Just avoid waiting until the last minute, here, because you are going to end up stressing yourself into a coma if you do.  Two to three weeks may seem like a lot of time, but truly, that is the amount of time that you are going to need.
