Drumming Up Some Self Storage Business
-
When self storage was in its infancy advertising wasn’t very important. There was not much competition in the industry, and not many people even knew what it was! Slapping the phone number on the side of the storage building and placing a small ad in the Yellow Pages sufficed. Nowadays, people and businesses in all walks of life commonly use self storage for a variety of reasons. And since the competition has become much more fierce, good advertising has become a necessity! It is a good idea to think outside the box. Here are a few suggestions…
CPA offices- Both the accountants and most of their customers are now required to save many of their files for many years. On-site office storage can be very expensive, not to mention cumbersome.
Bridal and Tuxedo shops- Newlyweds are often combining everything from two households, and are usually not able to afford a very large first home. Plus, where to put all of those new wedding gifts!
Large Apartment Complexes- Nowadays, storage in apartment buildings is almost non-existent. Owners and builders now use the space formerly used as storage for more rentable square footage.
College Campuses- Students go to college with refrigerators, futons, televisions, etc. Exactly what parents do not want to see brought back home again when Junior returns.
Fundraisers- Donate free or discounted storage to charity auctions and other fundraisers. These groups will put out a good word for you in the community and the recipients will be grateful. And remember, the best form of advertisement is always Word of Mouth!
