Creating Urgency
-
The rush is on! Many callers have put off getting a storage unit reserved because they have seen so many self storage facilities that they mistakenly thought there was unlimited availability. I have had several calls today from people who called at the first of the month and did not reserve. Now many are in a critical need situation and the appropriate size is sold out or there are now so few that the special that was in effect is no longer valid. We try our best here to impress upon callers the need to make a decision as soon as possible. We know how quickly an entire facility can sell out in June. Callers have no way to know unless they have experienced it before.
Perhaps callers feel that we are only stressing limited availability to get a reservation. I realize that there are many telemarketers who are viciously aggressive but we have velvet hammers in our call center. We do have excellent sales techniques and have had extensive one on one training to help us guide callers to a reservation and to field customer service needs as well.
During this very busy season we can be a very valuable asset to our store managers by catching the opportunities they would miss while working with a customer, on another phone line, or closed. This is when we can really turn missed calls into profits and help the store experience a sales increase. I have worked here for nearly 3 years and many store managers have expressed appreciation for the work we do for them.
If you are an owner or a manager of a self storage business and you are missing opportunity calls because you cannot get to the office every time the phone rings you might consider putting us to work for you.
