A mobile mini storage is going to be less expensive than a self storing facility for your residential property management storing. Here you will get same type of services, which are available in a self storing facility. In addition to that, you can keep the unit in front of your house, and take your time for packing the unit. This type of storing process is going to provide you with different types of benefits, which are described below.

1. Most of the mini storing companies will offer you free delivery of the portable unit at your doorstep. This way, you can save your valuable time, as you do not have to bother with reserving and hiring a truck to move your items to any normal warehouse.

2. A mobile mini storage will allow you to keep the storing container at your place for quite a few days. At many places this duration is for around 2 weeks. Thus, you can spend your free time to pack the container, which might be during the weekend, or after coming back from work or at your convenience.

3. The companies supply storing containers having an industry standard size. But, the size is comparatively smaller, as they can be easily packed. Also, this protects the items from getting damaged, which might occur due to jamming many items into one large box.

4. A mobile mini storage you to load and unload the unit only once. Most of the time, the items get damaged at the time of loading or unloading. In other type of storing system, the items involve multiple times handling, as you have to load them in the truck, unload them at the warehouse and follow the same process while bringing them back to your home. Thus, the chance of getting damaged is increased.

5. Most of the containers have a ground level entry point which makes them easy to pack with the boxes.

6. The smaller sized containers are usually of the size of an average car, which can easily fit into your front yard.

7. Each mobile mini storage boxes are large enough to hold belongings of approximately 1 to 2 rooms. This gives you the opportunity to organize your furniture separately from the household instruments.

8. The storing companies normally charge the units for a daily basis, so you can avoid paying any additional cost for your unused storing days. Here you pay only for the days you use the facility. However, some of the companies have a minimum period of storing, after which you can take out your belongings at any time you wish.

9. If you have long term storing plans, then you might avail long term discounts from most of these companies. Many of the companies have different types of special deals associated to the storing.

10. The mobile mini storage centers do not require you signing any long term contract. Thus you can terminate your storing any time without paying any penalty.

11. The facilities generally offer you easy access anytime during normal business hours. However, you can also take special permission to visit the warehouse at your convenience.

12. Most of the storing facilities offer varieties of boxes and packing supplies for your storing process. If you specify in advance, then the companies will send these supplies along with the container to you at the time of delivery.

It is a well known fact that wine needs proper storing and the longer you store it, the better you will get the taste. There are many people who prefer to store huge stacks of wine at their apartments or home, but they are unaware of the best ways of wine storing. Their precious drink gets spoiled due to the lack of proper environment. It is important that a wine lover knows the best way to store his favorite drink. There are many warehouses also that specialize in the warehousing of wine. Wine storing needs specific conditions so that the wine remains at its best. Some of the essential elements of wine storage are as follows.

Temperature

If you desire to store wine it is important that you know about the different wide band of temperatures that can preserve wine at its best. Wine is stored at its best at eleven degrees centigrade, but you can store wine between nine and fifteen also. You need to see that your location does not have too many fluctuations in temperature, such as fluctuations between day and night, and then there are high chances that the wine will get spoiled. So it is best to get a temperature controlled wine storage that shall suit your wine.

Humidity

Humidity is also important for wine storage but it should be seen that there is no excess humidity in the place. It is known that little humidity is essential so that the exposed end of the cork does not dry out in the bottle. This shall not be good for the wine. If this happens the cork will lose its ability to prevent the wine from oxidising as oxygen will creep in the bottle. If you think about the ideal level of humidity, then it is about seventy percent total humidity. If it is lower than this, then there are chances that the cork will dry out. If the cellar becomes too much humid then again there are chances of increased dampness, which may in turn cause the labels of the wine to rot. Thus humidity is also of prime importance so that your evening date is not spoiled.

Light

This is known to all that strong or direct light is not good for wine. Thus the wine storage where you are storing your wine should not be exposed to direct light that includes both sunlight as well as artificial lights. As long as the bottles and warehouse is dark the wine will be better. Light usually heats the wine and if the temperature reaches more than 25 degrees centigrade then there are chances that the wine will get spoiled and it wont be fit for consumption.

Security

As in case of all precious things, you should ensure that your wine storage is adequately secured. It is believed that wine is worth money and there are many people to whom wine cellars and stores are very easy to steal assets. There is much demand in market of some great wine, so you should always be careful about your drink. All places where wine is stored should be under lock and key which is accessible to very few people. There are many warehouses which have twenty four hours security but all cellars do not have. It is essential that your warehouse is well secured.

People need to store their belongings and for this purpose they hire self storage places, where separate units are available for warehousing. These units are available in various sizes, types and storing purposes. These storing units are available in different types and some of these have temperature controlled features, so that the goods are not damaged inside. Though these temperature controlled units are little more expensive than the other units, in these units your goods are sure to be protected. Climate controlled places are specially suitable for leather furniture, crystal glassware, different types of cleaning supplies, beautiful pictures and artwork, electronic goods of many types, files and records and also computers and musical instruments that need special temperature. Most of these temperature controlled self storage places have dust filters, which prevents the accumulation and the entering of dust particles in these units. Since these units need to be clean always, such filters help to keep the place neat and clean and in a way prevent pests and insects from gathering in the unit.

There are many other arrangements made in self storage places for the convenience of the customers. Customers, who desire to hire the places, often enquire about the security and before deciding to hire the place, usually desire to have a look or know about the security of the place, so that they can be assured that their things are in safe hands. The owner or property manager of the places also try to make all security arrangements in the warehouses, so that the guests are assured. There are many kinds of security measures that are available for the self storing places, though they may vary from place to place. There are many kinds of computerized gate controls in these places, where the movement of the gate is controlled by a computer. There are facilities of video monitoring so that all entries and exits at the store are monitored. Cameras are places even inside the places, so that the activities of the customer are also monitored. This is specially done to ensure that no outsider enters the area, without having proper access to the places. There are many self storage places which have high powered lighting and perimeter fencing to prevent unauthorized entry. Many times the warehouses are designed as perimeter walls that safeguard all your goods in a secure way. All this helps in increasing the security of the place.

Several other arrangements are made in these warehouses for the convenience of the customers. There are many storehouses which have a standing seam roofing system that helps to eliminate the leaks in the warehouse. There are facilities of rolling doors with a reinforced latch. Many storehouses have an overhead insulation that helps in the controlling of condensation. Different self storage houses have different facilities and the facility that you may get will depend on the storehouse that you choose. Do not forget to enquire about the lighting facilities that can be seen after dark, since it may happen that you need to access the place after dark and in such a case, lighting is very essential. This is not only important for customers visiting the place for goods, but it is important for the security also. If the place is dark, it may be used by thieves and other such miscreants. Hence lighting arrangement is very much essential in these units.

Wine storage has become a mode of investment in modern times rather than a fashion. Before, only the rich person could afford the luxury of storing the wine. They had their own cellar situated generally in underground. At that time the collection of wine was a matter of display and pride of the host. Those wines were served mainly to the family members and guests. But the picture has changed. People have become eager to invest money on it like shares and stocks. Investments on wine business yield a good return if you invest correctly. Remember that you should have a good knowledge over wine because all wines do not give same return. You have to pick the right one which gives you the maximum return.

Wine is a very good investment if the wine storage is done properly. If you do not store it properly you will give you back a big zero because without the proper care and atmosphere your wine will turn to acid. Moreover before storing it check what type of it is. Because the high price of the wine depends on the type and region of its origin. The price of the wine depends on another factor too and that is its age. The old it will be, it will yield more profit. That is why when shipwrecks are discovered under the sea the first thing searched is the place where the wine bottles are stored. Most of the time wines are found in excellent condition because under-sea atmosphere provide the right amount of temperature and humidity.

The correct temperature of storing wines is 56 to 58 degrees Fahrenheit. Minimum 70 percent humidity level is needed for the preservation of wine. In sufficient humidity the chance of the cork shrinkage becomes less. So the fear of leakage decreases. In case of any cork shrinkage the oxygen in the air slowly leak in to the bottle. This causes oxidation which ultimately turns the wine to acid. The result of oxidation is the bitterness of wine. At the time of wine storage one important thing you should keep in mind is to maintain the ullage, the gap between the cork and the wine bottle. There is a certain measure which should be maintained. Earlier the wine storing system used to need re-corking. But today with the invention of long lasting cork the re-corking is no more needed.

Label of the wine bottle should be maintained at the time of wine storage because the brand and manufacturing date imprinted on the label is needed at the time of the valuation of that wine. You know that the price of a wine increases with its age. Unlike most of the things the cost increases with its oldness. But to maintain the label in such humid atmosphere is really a tough job. To overcome this most of the wine storage organizations are using plastic protectors to protect the wine.

Two other factors harmful to storing of wines are light and vibration. Excessive light leakage inside the bottle creates an unpleasant aroma in the wine. So be careful about that. Though the modern bottles have good UV filters, still it is not hundred percent UV proof. A little amount of light still penetrates inside the bottle and makes it light struck. Also avoid any type of vibration of the bottle until it is time to serve.

Lurking in the corners of dark, musty basements, filling shelves and boxes in garages and closets, spilling out from counter tops and laundry bins everywhere, there is a residential virus that grows in proportion with each passing shopping spree. The seeming uncontrollable and unconscious behavior that allows this virus to take hold can only be described as extreme over purchasing. Living in the most affluent country on the planet has its advantages, not the least of which is the ability that we as consumers have to purchase items that strike our fancy whether or not we actually need them.

We get excited when we purchase something new. In our quest to experience continuous happy feelings, we tend to buy things, like a new microwave oven, even though the one we have still works just fine. The ease with which people get credit affords just about anyone to immediately experience the gratification of big money purchases like granite counter tops and plasma televisions, even if they end up paying more for them later. The spending helps sustain the businesses that we shop at and helps our national economy, so it is not all purely selfish. Unfortunately the items that we already have need to go somewhere, as they are still perfectly usable. Throwing them in the trash is just plain wasteful.

Self storage companies have risen to the call, claiming this great need of ours for more space is not so difficult to deal with as it first appears. These facilities have sprung up in every town, like Hialeah self storage companies , and they are never at a loss for business, further giving credence to the fact that people just have too much stuff. There are millions of square feet of empty space located within the concrete walls of these companies across the nation, and it is now estimated that one in every ten families uses such facilities to use items that they no longer have room for in their homes. And the trend seems to be growing.

Cleaning up the clutter in ones home is certainly not the only reason why people call on self storage companies in their time of need. When living situations require that two households merge into one, such as a couple getting married, or an aging parent moving back in with their grown children, space can be quickly consumed by the personal belongings of both parties if action is not taken to reassess the situation. Keeping unused and inconsequential items off site gives everyone involved more room to move.

Self storage companies also see great use in the form of a second garage, housing out of season items such as artificial Christmas trees, swimming pools, canoes, small boats and even automobiles. The luxury of having an off site location to keep rarely used items safe, clean and dry is yet another of the benefits of living in a society where we are truly afforded the good things in life. Being grateful for all that we have, even if it ends up being housed by self storage companies because we no longer need to use it, is perhaps the best way to remind us that we really are privileged in America, and rather than mindlessly assuming that what we need is more, more, more, we might want to take stock of what we have and realize that we already have more than most.

One might think that changing weather patterns may not have all that much to do with the condition of items that are locked within a steel and concrete building for safekeeping. It is this error in thinking that has caused many people a considerable amount of grief and disappointment over the years, especially before the advent and implementation of climate controlled self storage.

Texas summers are notorious for being sizzling hot. There is an experiment that is tried out every year by many a curious child as a result of the old saying in Texas that in the summer months it becomes hot enough to fry an egg on the concrete. Oftentimes, the experiment turns out to be true. While many Northern states can get by without air conditioning for most, if not all of the year, relying only on fans and open windows simply will not work in places like Texas. The air inside of an enclosed building can become so blazing hot that it can be overwhelming and potentially deadly to any person that enters. While sofas and boxes of toys may not feel the heat as we humans would, they certainly can be affected by the extreme temperatures in ways that will result in damage to them.

If you are not using climate controlled self storage , it is very likely that the heat and humidity that can build up within a typical unit will be sufficient enough to warp certain items that are made of plastic and even some woods. Humidity is a culprit in itself in many instances. Brought on by rapid changes in temperature, the humidity will secure and encourage the growth of mold and mildew, which can grow on just about any surface within a dark, enclosed unit and can ruin everything that you have gone to the trouble of placing within the room. Once the musty smell of mildew infiltrates a blanket, mattress or box spring, it lingers.

Climate controlled self storage all but eradicates the problems and hazards associated with extreme heat and humidity in a dark enclosed unit. The temperature remains within a reasonable range that will not allow the growth of odor causing mold and mildew to live, much less thrive and take over. This is made possible by air vents within the unit that allow temperate air to circulate freely within the unit. The movement of the air also has the added benefit of avoiding the air from remaining stale in the unit.

Climate controlled self storage works the opposite way, as well. In areas where winter is a bitter frosty nightmare rather than a beautiful snowy dream, the air within a dark, enclosed unit can create humidity that can freeze, causing damage to wood and other surfaces, cracking glass, and when it thaws, causing mold and mildew to accumulate anyway. The temperature controlled heated air that circulates within the unit is enough to avoid the freeze and deter the humidity.

If you must store belongings in an enclosed unit, it is important to utilize climate controlled self storage , especially if you live in an area of the country where extreme temperatures occur throughout the year. Keeping your belongings safe requires more than a good padlock and a strong and sturdy entry gate. It requires foresight when dealing with Mother Nature, as well.

Forty years ago, when the self service storage industry was a relatively new phenomenon, it was not something that was used by that many Americans. Considered somewhat of an industrial need, rather than a residential one, the vast majority of consumers saw no reason for such a service, equating it with warehouses, merchandise and equipment space. Fast forward a few decades, and now one in eleven families use some kind of self service storage , whether it is rented for furniture, cars, boats or RVs. Todays consumer even has the option to store wine in specially made, temperature regulated units that are built to specification for such a purpose.

So, what makes todays industry more appealing to the hundreds of thousands of consumers worldwide who use them? Ease and convenience, for starters. The influx of new companies, the use of modern architecture and the number of units available are astounding. A drive through virtually any neighborhood will turn up a handful of facilities. Today, new companies look for a more residential market, rather than simply exhausting the industrial markets of the past. Facilities are sleeker, more attractive, and blend well with the modern retail shopping centers that are also making their appearance in the suburbs across America. It is easier than ever to find self service storage , and find it close to both home and business.

The need for places to store unused items has grown with the increase of certain specific possessions that need storing. Recreational vehicles and boats used to be the exception to the rule for homeowners and consumers. But now, more and more people are finding it easier to afford these high ticket items. Even so, homeowners associations are increasingly intolerant of storing such large vehicles on ones property, making the need for appropriate storing options even more pressing for those who choose to own them.

In todays market, it is much easier to go out and rent a self service storage unit, to hold the abundance of unused material objects that have accumulated in ones possession over the years, than it is to buy a bugger home to keep it in. That being said, many families that bought large homes when the interest rates were low, assuming that they could make large balloon payments years down the road, found that when the time came to make those big payments, there was not enough money in their bank accounts to make them. They ended up having to sell their homes, anyway. Now, hundreds of thousands of families have been forced to move again, downsizing to smaller, less expensive homes.

Self service storage is a benefit to homeowners, business owners, renters, individuals and families alike. Now, more than ever, the ease, affordability and convenience of storing is a well established fact, and people from all walks of life are apt to take advantage of it no matter what type of possessions or equipment they need to find a place for. Specialty storing has become the name of the game, and everything from documents to furs can now be successfully stored under the same roof as a yacht. Todays companies give value to their service in as many ways as they can, by upgrading security, adding amenities and making it even easier for customers to solve their space issues.

RV or recreational vehicle is an acquisition that everybody cherishes. A weekend of freedom is another name for owning a RV. These weekends are the days of relief from the hectic life and the stress that one suffers these days. So maintaining this means of freedom is of utmost importance. You do not need to get more stressed when you find that the long desired weekend gets jammed in the engine of your RV. It is said, drive your automobile to keep it running. But in real life one cannot go to the office in a RV and office and work are the only regular places for using the automobile. This means you need RV storage , either at your own place or at a storing facility.

The most important question is where to store this vehicle? The size of the vehicle itself does not fit into the regular garages. The smallest of the RVs is bigger than even your SUV and keeping such a large vehicle standing in front of your house not only does not like good, in most areas it is against the regulations too This means that you will have to get a storing place where such parking is allowed. And this is what RV storage places are all about. You must also understand that keeping your RV out in the open also damages the vehicle and sometimes this damage may prove very costly and instead of the de-stressing that you wished you can more stressed.

The RV storage places are the best places for keeping your dream vehicle that you spent a lot in furnishing to your hearts content. The facilities will store your vehicle in between the sparing uses that you have and they will protect it from the actions of weather and other elements. Most importantly, the benefit is that you can access it whenever you want. All you will have to do is to drive it to your storing facility and keep it parked at the place assigned. Sometimes the facilities do not provide completely closed areas and instead provide sheds. These are called outdoor RV storing facilities. Some others provide indoor storing where the vehicles are stored inside closed areas.

The price you pay for RV storage is often justified considering the amount of damage that might have been caused had such costly vehicle lay in the open space. While some facilities offer only storing, some provide added amenities like gas filling, and wash bays and certain other amenities that one associates with the recreational vehicles. Your vehicle needs some pre-storing preparation and these facilities even provide that along with regular cleaning and repair services. It can be said that most of the RV storing facilities provide a complete package where you just pay and drive in or drive out in your RV.

Without depending on the RV storage you must check some matters before storing the vehicle. The first thing is to make sure that the air inside the RV, when kept closed, can absorb moisture in varying degrees and eventually not only provide a smell that is difficult to banish but can also cause damages to the interiors. You should use dehumidifiers in such cases. The battery is the life source and make sure that you remove it and take separate care for it to reuse it the next time. Finally, if you think of covering the vehicle, make sure you keep some breathing space between the cover and the body of the RV. Make sure that your next freedom run is smooth.

Storing is always a matter of concern and this concern grows when the space grows less and less. When you need storing for the household articles you need at least a standard unit for storing as your articles can include things like furniture, bicycle or the tri-cycle of the now grown-up child, and the like. But what about storing for an office? For any office space is vital as the rent for any commercial space is much higher than any residential space. So wasting any such place means loss of revenue but the companies, businesses or services need to keep records and documents that needs to be preserved for years. The initial storing is done in the office itself but after sometime such old papers burst out of the shelves and cupboards. The solution to such situations is provided by the mini self storage places.

The word mini in mini self storage itself must be indicative enough that it is about storing spaces which are smaller than the conventional units. The units generally start from twenty-five square feet to less than five hundred square feet. They are ideal for storing small articles in a large number and this makes them ideal for storing the office documents. Many companies are providing such solutions these days and you can choose one according to your resources and needs. These are conveniently located and are normally accessible round the clock.

A matter of concern is the security of the documents that are usually kept in such locations. Some offices need to keep hundreds of records for future use or possible future requirement. This not only concerns the businesses but also professionals like doctors and lawyers who need to store records of their patients and clients. Thus the mini self storage locations need to be very secure not only from outside interference but also the actions of climate and nature. Most of the facilities are well guarded and are made in such a way that the goods inside do not get damaged due to heat or moisture. However, it is better to get climate controlled units when storing paper because there is a chance that the records can get damaged due to humidity or moulds.

Security at the mini self storage places are generally in the form of high perimeter fences to guard the premises. This is supplemented by the surveillance cameras and sometimes by the human supervision of the units. These days, electronic keypads are becoming popular as an access controller. Most of the new units have it and many old facilities are also upgrading to it. The units are generally managed by the professional managers who know about the intricacies of storing solutions and they can act as the guides for you in all matters linked to storing.

If you are doing your business from your home, mini self storage is the ideal solution for your needs. It helps to keep your house free from cluttering. At the same time you can preserve lots of documents and be happy that they are in safe hands. But you have to be careful about something. Do not store without cataloging. You must know where you have kept which document and should not have any difficulty in finding it when you need it. This not only saves the physical energy, it also saves time.

It is not new that people these days are keeping their stuff outside their homes. The self storing companies are flourishing on the fact that people end up buying more things that they do not need than buying things that they actually need. The people in these situations flock to the self storage facilities . You might be one of them and you may be thinking of storing your articles there too. It is a good idea but you need to do some homework and preparation before storing the articles.

The first thing that you will need to do is to go through a list of self storage facilities in your vicinity. You are bound to get at least one near to you if not more. A good way to find out if the facility is good enough is from the neighbors who are already using the services. Sometimes you are left with no choice but to hire the only one available. So, in that case you will be needed to seek clarification on everything from the terms and conditions of use to the various charges and the services and amenities you will be getting for that price. You should also visit the facility yourself and verify the units. This will give you an idea of how much space you will actually need.

The self storage facilities offer a number of services that are quite helpful to you. Generally, the facilities of repute offer 24 hour access for storing and taking out your articles. They also offer round the clock security with surveillance by security cameras. Climate control and portability of warehousing are often provided but most of the time you may get any one type of storing facility. If you are willing to store some important and climate sensitive articles you should go for climate controlled storing. Similarly if you want to take your time and arrange your articles neatly or if you are moving from one place to another you can opt for portable storing. The larger companies provide all the facilities at the same facility and in such cases you can choose the type of storing you need.

The pricing is very important for self storage facilities . You will get attracted by the lucrative offers that the storing facilities give. But always verify the details of such offers. Sometimes the offers are made to draw he attention of the customers but carry a number of riders which in the end makes the deal as costly as it would have been without the offer. You should know that the storing facilities offer no security of the goods in terms of compensation in case of damages and loss. If you have any valuable objects to store make sure you buy insurance for it.

Finally, make a list of all the articles you will be storing. Make them categorical as you will then easily know where to find them when you need them. Make sure that it is easy to access the goods and you do not need to take out all the things to find the object you want. Sometimes it is recommended that you take photographs of the highly valuable items. The self storage facilities do not offer locks to the units. You will have to use your own locks and make sure that you buy a good quality lock to buy mental peace. Now, you can be said to be ready for using the self warehousing facility of your choice.

Looking for self storing facilities people first think of one thing and that is the rate of hiring. Self storage rates does not vary that much in a particular location and the slight variations that you will find depends on factors like goodwill and exact location of the facilities. These days the growing numbers of companies that are entering the race to grab a pie of the self storing boom are making the rates competitive and you now have a choice. But the rates vary within the facility and that is due to the sizes and type of storing facility they provide. The base price of any storing facility covers some features that you can call the basics and include the rent of the units, general security and the right to use the facility during the working hours of the company.

Whatever the self storage rates , you will have to start with a security deposit and this must be refundable. Usually you will not find any company not refunding the money but as a precaution you should ask if it is refundable when negotiating the terms and conditions. Even the refundable deposits do not get recovered because of some factor or the other. Be aware of the factors and go through the contract document to actually identify the points. If you yourself fail to do, ask the facility manager to elaborate on it. It is not asking for much but it is your right to get informed about the details.

You often get attracted by the numerous offers made by the various self storing companies. This is the result of the crowded market. But what they is not always what they offer. They only highlight the most attractive things but hardly say about the add-ons which even the very generous ones hide in the fine print. So do not get attracted by the offers only. Verify all the other charges that you will have to pay before hiring the units. So do not get drawn towards the extremely affordable self storage rates without physically verifying the units and going minutely through the terms of the contract.

You can get heavy discounts on the self storage rates . Yes, this is nothing new as many companies, to attract customers, offer various discounts on the security deposit, rent rates, etc. sometimes such rates are displayed while at other times you can ask for it. Often the companies which do not advertise any special rates agree to offer the rates of their competitors to keep their customers and this is where you will have to ask for. You can also demand reduction in rates if you are hiring the unit for long term. The companies sometimes offer waiver of the security deposits if you pay some the charges for some months in advance. Similarly some promotional offers also offer the first months rent for a token amount. But this is the case where you need to read in between the lines.

At the end you should know that the type of facility also decides the self storage rates . The hiring charges of a climate controlled facility will naturally be more than the ordinary facilities and so will the units with larger space cost more than the smaller ones. The companies sometimes provide free services like transportation for moving and storing the articles within a specified radius of operation. You can get similar services for free but do not expect them every time from everyone.

Self storing is fast becoming a great business and the requirement for storing space is increasing day by day. With the rise in cost of living space and rapid urbanization, the space for storing articles that are not needed regularly is getting dearer everyday. People are finding it cheaper to store these articles outside their homes and self storage companies are mushrooming here and there to grab the opportunity. But if you are thinking of hiring the services of such a company you need to check out in advance some things that will help you to keep your articles in good condition as well as for a cheap rate. These companies also arrange for storing your articles and transporting them when you move from one place to another.

The first thing that you should get from self storage companies is security of your articles. No storing facilities came without electronic security systems these days. They usually have surveillance cameras scanning the premises twenty four hours a day and the security personnel monitor the pictures. This is apart from the high security fences that surround the facilities. Moreover, there is access control in the storing area where only the clients who hire the units are allowed. Of course you will be allowed to preview the area that you will be hiring. This is a must that you should follow. Always check the unit you are hiring.

The reputed self storage companies have both climate controlled and regular storing units. You can hire the climate controlled units if you think that the articles you are going to put in actually need them. These units are supposed to have controlled temperature and humidity, ideal for storing perishable goods like furniture, paintings, electronic items, etc. They should be properly insulated and sometimes people prefer these units not for its climate controlled features but for protecting the delicate items from dust and vermin. If you hire regular units it must also ensure that there is no danger from water seepage or similar damages.

The rates offered by the self storage companies vary. Sometimes the areas where there is stiff competition the companies give various sops to attract the customers. But whatever be the special offer, the general offers include a discount if the units are hired for a long period of say half-a-year or a year and the discount becomes bigger if the entire amount for the period is paid in advance. Sometimes such payments also attract waiver of the security deposit. The companies sometimes hire out the units for a minimum period of say two weeks or three months depending upon their business demands. However, the two week hiring is usually offered by the companies that provide portable storing.

Coming to portable storing, the self storage companies providing such solutions, usually deliver the storing units to the homes of the customers and after these are packed they either transport it to the destination or store them in their own storing facilities. If you are thinking of hiring such a company for moving to some other county or state, make sure that the company has its own storing facilities in that state. This facility is only offered by the very large self storing chains that have interstate operations. They either do it through their own branches, franchises or other companies with whom they have business arrangements. So before choosing your company make a little bit of homework to grab the best deal.

While the warehousing of unused or unnecessary belongings has always been a problem, a new set of solutions have come up for the homeowners today. The best possible option among these is availing the services of professional storing companies that store your goods in exchange of a monetary amount as fees. Most such companies are hired by people who are either moving or do not have room for things they do not wish to discard yet. Whatever be the reason, if you rent self storage blocks for your goods and belongings, you need to scrutinize and compare your storing options very carefully before signing the contract with the concerned professionals.

Rent self storage place keeping these points in mind, which will allow you to guard against any untoward experience during the contract period.

Convenience
The convenience of travel and the proximity of the storing space from your perspective should always get the priority. The closer the storing unit, the lesser is your expense and stress.

Affordability
While you rent these places, make a thorough research on the affordability and comparative quality of different companies that offer such professional storing services. The cost may of renting 5×10 storing units annual rent may lie between 400 dollars to 600 dollars. The cost and the quality often depend on which locality or region you live or choose to store your goods and belongings in.

Size
Check for the actual size of the storing facility before hiring the services of the professional storing unit. Many a times, clients face a problem of plenty, which is renting a bigger space than required. Along with the wastage of valuable space, the clients investment is also unnecessary. And on the other hand, the store room is not enough for some clients. To avoid this problem, always make a visit on-site to make an estimate for your own cause.

Security
Ensure that when you rent self storage it has proper security arrangements. This does not only mean security of the building, but also a regular maintenance check on the stored goods. Usually codes or keys are provided personally to the clients to the storing units they have are using for the service. You as a client should also be clear about the storing companys insurance regulations. Otherwise, compensation for damaged or stolen goods would not be easy to retrieve from the self storing company.

Climate Controlled Units
While you rent self storage places with a professional storing company, make sure that it is climate controlled and has the measures of other seasonal elements under control. This is very important as many of the household belongings and goods in general are prone to damage from elements such as humidity, heat and other such climate-oriented factors. So, even if it costs a bit more than your conventional storing units, these spaces that have climate controlled storing units. This will actually help you gain a better output in the long run.

Therefore, now you have a clear idea as to what services should professional self storing companies provide you with. Ensure that you avail of all these services before you rent self storage places for your storing purposes. Also make it a point to get references and recommendations from professionals in the industry as well as people who have used these services before you. This will give you a fair idea as to what to expect and what expenses will be incurred apart from which is mentioned in the initial quote from the selected professional self storing company.

When looking for self storing facility the price one has to pay is a matter of concern. People often think that what will be the cost of putting their articles in a self storing facility. Well, there are no fixed self storage prices . The price of any facility will depend on the nature of the facility and also the size of space that you need to hire. The ordinary storing facility will cost lesser than the climate controlled units. Similarly, the more space you take up, the more will you have to pay. Moreover, if the units provide any other special facilities you may have to pay more. But remember this business is hotting up and you may end up getting some unexpected discounts while hiring the storing facility.

The first thing that should be touched upon and on which the self storage prices always vary is the nature of the unit. There are two types, the regular or general units that do not have any facility for controlling the humidity and temperature, and those units that have the facility. These special units are good for preserving valuables, especially those that are susceptible to weather changes. If you are thinking of storing your furniture, paintings, fragile articles, musical instruments, valuable documents, etc. then these are the ideal units for you. The regular facilities will not guard you against the effects of weather. It needs no brilliance to know that the climate-controlled units will cost more to hire than the ordinary units.

The next determining factor of self storage prices is the space that you are hiring. The smallest of the spaces measure around 25 square feet and can contain the materials of say, half of a room. These cost very less and are enough if you need to store a few articles or small articles. For the small ones, you can store them in a box and stack them in a small sized unit. If you need to store more the sizes vary and you can choose according to your need. But a way of cost saving is by maximizing the use of the hired units. You can arrange the materials to store in advance and classify them into boxes if possible. This enables you to calculate the amount of space you require and then choose the suitable storing space. The largest of the units can contain almost up to all the articles of an average sized household.

The self storage prices just not mean the hiring charges. You may also have to pay a security deposit, sometimes equivalent to the hiring charges of a month. But if you hire the unit for a year or more this charge is sometimes waived and you can also get discount on the hiring charges if you pay the charges for the year in advance. You can have facilities that are accessible twenty four hours round the year. But if you do not get one, then in case you need to take out any article beyond their working hours, you might have to pay extra. Other extras that can add to self storage prices are cost of packing the materials, transportation, insurance, etc. The well established companies may provide all these services within the hiring charges except the insurance. Check whether the units provide drive-in facility. If not, then you may also need to pay the loading and unloading charges and they also add up to the final price.

Like stocks and shares wine storage has become a good mode of investment in todays world. Earlier, only rich could afford a cellar and that was their possession of pride. They liked to display it to their guest and most of the time they did not lose the chance of boasting of having a cellar. Generally the cellar used to be situated underground. But at the present scenario the wine business is a good source of earning money. People have come to know that a proper wine storage yields a good amount of money.

Wine business is a very profitable business and it has a huge return if you do the wine storage properly. So the first thing what you have to do is gathering knowledge on wine storing. If you do not have good knowledge on wine, making your wine will turn acid and no one will buy your acid. Your profit will be a big zero. Its not that you will only lose the profit you will lose your investment too because a big amount of money is needed initially to start the wine business. The price of wine mainly depends on the type of the grapes and the region where it has been grown. Another deciding factor of the price of the wine is age. The more old, the more precious it is. That is why when a wreck of a ship is discovered under the sea the first things that are searched are wine bottles. Under the water at the sea bottom wine gets the most appropriate atmosphere to be preserved. For this reason when wine is discovered from the sea bottom they are sent to the auction and are sold in a good price.

To make a good wine the appropriate temperature that one needs is 56- 58 degrees Fahrenheit along with 70 percent humidity. Humidity plays an important role because in dry weather cork shrinks. If the cork shrinks air leaks into the bottle and oxidation occurs and the result is bitterness of wine. Due to oxidation the wine turns to acid. While packing the wine in the bottle one should maintain the ullage. The Ullage is a technical term which means the gap between the cork and the wine. There is a certain measure. That should be maintained to avoid oxidation. Before, the quality of the cork was not up to the mark. For this reason re-corking was an indispensable step because after certain time the cork would become brittle. But after the invention of new good quality long-lasting cork, re-corking is no more needed and it saves money. Ultimately the cost of wine storage decreases though slightly.

Another important thing of wine storage is label. On the label the name of the brand, the manufacturing date, its origin should be printed because they are important for the valuation of the wine. Unlike other things the value of wine increases with the increase in age. The label damages with the time because wines are kept in humid weather. For the protection of the label the wine companies are using plastic protectors to protect the wine. Other factors that are really harmful in the making of wine are vibration and light. Heat and light leakage inside the bottle become the cause of the unacceptable aroma of the wine. Nowadays companies are using bottles with UV filters though they can not be hundred percent light-proofs. To avoid being light struck, preserve it in dark and in basement. Also avoid vibration before serving it in a glass.

In the present times, one has to compromise with homes that are just big enough to accommodate only the bare essential furniture. When moving from bigger homes to smaller ones, there will always be some household articles that turn out to be extra pieces. If they are in good shape, they cannot be disposed of with. They need to be preserved carefully. Unfortunately, as many buildings or houses do not have enough area in them for storing items, people are increasingly opting for self storage companies to preserve their valuable items.

The paid storehouses are dedicated to storing the items in the best possible conditions under the best possible care. These storehouses are being used to store household furniture, refrigerators, electronic items, clothes, childrens playthings, jewelry and a host of other such items. They provide a lot of features for storing the items like a good security mechanism, electrical circuitry and environmental regulation. Some of the firms offer to maintain the items in the storing areas. The rates for hiring depend upon the features and the services opted for.

The self storage companies have large areas containing storehouses of different types and sizes. The storehouses are categorized according to the features that they provide and within a particular type they are placed according to their sizes. All the storehouses that need to store items in constant temperature and pressure conditions are stored in an environmentally regulated zone. The rest are placed in the general zone. Within these zones the storehouses of the same size are placed together. The storehouses are managed by the store supervisors who ensure good maintenance and security of the items stored in them.

Self storage companies are on the rise these days. There is one at a distance of every three to five kilometers in and around cities. They are found on highways too. It is always better to go for the storehouses that are located in the vicinity of the house. It is also better to go for an area where there is high security. Apart from storing household items they store vehicles too and maintain them so that they are in good working condition by the time they are removed from the storehouse. Good firms provide quality service and one should be able to locate them.

Self storage companies that have their storehouses located nearby should be selected so that one can easily access the materials as and when required. Different types of packages are offered by the firms and one needs to know the package that best suits his requirements. There are different plans for storing also that one needs to think about before shifting the items into a storehouse. If one does not know, he should take the advice of the store supervisors to get an accurate idea of the type of the storehouse that best suits his requirements.

The self storage companies usually ask the renter of the storehouses to sign a written contract that contains clauses stating the terms and conditions under which a storehouse can be hired. One should carefully read the contract before signing it. Many times a lot of terms that appear in fine print are ignored by the renter, which might be disadvantageous for him later on. This might result in his spending more for the storehouse.

Getting a cheap self storage is not a very difficult task these days. There are many firms that are offering storing areas at affordable prices. These storehouses come with standard features. If special features like environmental regulation and enhanced security are required then one has to obviously pay more. But even these services are offered at very reasonable prices by many firms. One has to decide upon the features and services that he wants for storing his belongings. Many firms offer standardized packages, but it is always better for the renter to decide upon the features and services that he would like for his items. Otherwise he will end up paying more than the required amount for storing his items.

There are many firms that offer modernized storehouses with a lot of sophisticated features. A cheap self storage does not come with a lot of showy features. Rather, it comes with features that are useful. Many people opt for more features than are necessary for the items that they are going to store. Usually it is seen that wooden and metallic items need to be protected from extremes of temperature and humidity. Hence, in places where the temperature and humidity levels vary to the extremes, it is better to opt for storing areas that are environmentally regulated. These chambers will have equipment that will keep the temperature and humidity constant while they vary from very low to very high levels from summer to winter. In areas where the climate is moderate and there is no humidity at all, the environmental regulation features need not be opted for.

A cheap self storage may not be equipped with the latest burglary detection system. But the renter should always see if high level security is required for the items that he is storing. These storing areas are supervised by security personnel. Otherwise, a mere locking arrangement can serve the purpose. It is not necessary that the storing area that one chooses should be loaded with the latest security gadgetry. If one wants to store inexpensive household items, it is not necessary to spend a huge amount of money on sophisticated electronic gadgetry as there are fewer chances of inexpensive and used items of being burgled.

On the other hand, storing precious items, like jewelry, in a cheap self storage is not a very good idea, because these equipments require extra security, in which case sophisticated security alarm systems are required. Some firms offer to maintain the items in the storing areas. With the permission of the owner of the property, they take the items out periodically, clean them and repack them and put them back in the enclosures.

Storing vehicles takes a lot of special effort. Nowadays, recreational vehicles, boats, and expensive cars are being stored in paid storehouses for preserving their quality. Usually these storehouses are generally expensive, but there are some cheap self storage areas that store vehicles. But the expensive storehouses maintain the vehicles in a good condition for the owner. They examine parts of the vehicle for any defects, and repair them. They also take put the vehicles on a test drive. They perform all these activities on a periodic basis to ensure that the vehicle remains in good working condition. Expensive vehicles need to be maintained this way as otherwise they tend to get damaged.

As more and more people opt for storing their belongings in paid storehouses, a number of firms dealing with realty are coming up with affordable self storage areas. There are expensive ones also but the good news is that most of the storehouse services are offered at very reasonable prices. Here are some points that a person intending to store items in a public storehouse should know.

• If one is an occupant of a rented house, the belongings that are not kept in the house but in a storehouse outside the premises of the household will not be covered under the tenancy insurance, which the owner provides to the belongings that are kept in the house. The items that are placed in an affordable self storage area need to be covered under a separate insurance plan.

• It is illegal to store potentially hazardous items in the storehouses. Inflammable items like gasoline, paints and cleaning fluids should never be used. Vehicles, motorized machinery, lawnmowers, boats etc. should be drained emptied of all gasoline before being sent to the storehouses. Food is prevented from being stored in storehouses, especially if it attracts a lot of rodents and pests.

• The items that are to be stored need to be cleaned and dried before being sent to the storehouse. Refrigerator doors should be kept slightly open to allow circulation of air. It is best to vacuum clean the items that would be going into the storehouses.

• The items that are accessed often should be placed in the front portion of the affordable self storage and the ones that are accessed less often should be placed behind the others. It is always better to place precious items in the back portion of the storehouse.

• The walls of the storehouse should be kept free. No article should be kept leaning on them. While packing items made of glass special care should be taken. They should be placed separately and in the most stable position. They should never be stacked with other items.

• Storing large furniture can be a problem. Large furniture should be disassembled to its constituent parts so that the individual components occupy less storing area. The components should be marked so that they can be reassembled easily later on.

• When packing items for an affordable self storage area, a lot of items like bubble wrap, tapes and boxes are required. It is always better to make a list of all the items required for packing and keep oneself ready with these items before starting the packing process.

• Books, when packed collectively can turn out to be the heaviest items. Hence, care should be taken that books are packed in small numbers in small boxes. It is a good idea to combine the packing of books with other items like lightweight fragile items. The fragile items should be placed in the centre with the books forming a protective wall on all the sides. But the packaging should be very tight so that there is no room for the constituent items to move in the container.

Affordable self storage areas might not contain some of the sophisticated features like environmental regulation and security infrastructure that is available with the expensive storehouses. But these storehouses are good for storing ordinary household items.

Many people do not have enough storing place in the home. Even business houses have excess inventory from time to time. The best way out in such a situation is to call any company that provides portable mini storage option and ask for one. They are the best option for harried souls who find themselves knee-deep in essential items. The service can be used under various circumstances. They are ideal for homeowners who are renovating their home and need to temporarily store their household items in some other facility. For business owner, this kind of storing option is perfect while changing location or to store records safely. They can also be used to keep bulk purchase and for hotels and other such establishments, this facility can be used to store seasonal items like decorative lights.

Most portable mini storage service providers are just a phone call away. The companies will send their units to the dwelling of the customer and allow the customer to load it at his or her own sweet time. Most require a prior booking for at least 7 days but many also deliver a unit within a 24 hour notice. After the essentials are packed in, it can be kept in the premise of the customer or taken to secure location of the provider. In most cases, the locks of the customers will be used to fasten the doors of the units. The units come in varied sizes like 8 inches X 8 inches, or 8 inches X 12 inches to even 8 inches X 40 inches. The doors are wide to allow easy entry of the items to be stored. Many service providers also provide packing materials for some extra charge.

The customers can always visit their stored units whenever they like after calling up the client service executives. If they decide to keep their portable mini storage in their premise, they must check with local authorities and see that there is no restriction on that. Most of these units are made of aluminum or steel to protect the contained units from the outdoor elements. If the customer decides to store their units with the company, then it can either be outdoor or indoor. Even in the outdoor location, companies maintain a high level of security so that no unauthorized person gets near the stored units. Some companies also provide a climate controlled storehouse options for items that have to be stored in an optimal temperature. But whatever option they choose, the customer must insure their items that they are storing in the units and so consult with their insurance provider regarding it.

Though the size of the container may vary from company to company, the standard 12 inches portable mini storage can store all the furnishing and belongings of a one bedroom home or condo while 16 inches can store the entire belongings of a small house or that of 2 bedrooms homes. If the customer has a three bedroom house or more, then she may have to book a 20 inches unit. If moving through states, portable mini storage can come in handy. But first check that the provider has the license to cross state lines. There are many companies that offer this service, it is better to see around for getting the best deal. Many provide additional services like packing and moving facilities, so asking about them at the time of booking is also a good idea.

People make big investments on vehicles. Hence, it is necessary for one to maintain these vehicles in good condition. Keeping the vehicles in a household garage may not ensure adequate protection to the vehicle against extremes of temperature and humidity. Environmentally polluting factors can also be detrimental to the health of the vehicle. Maintaining vehicles involves conducting periodic check ups on each and every part for any defects. Taking all these factors into consideration, it is always better to opt for an automobile storage for keeping the vehicle in a good condition.

There are many firms that offer storing areas for vehicles. They provide a lot of services and take care of vehicles of different types. These storing areas are designed to store cars, trucks, motorbikes etc. in top condition. They are equipped with the latest devices and mechanisms for providing an environment that nurtures conditions that are essential for maintaining the vehicles efficiently. Many of these firms are big and well established, while there are some that are small and in the process of establishing their images. It is not required that one should go to the big firms only to store their vehicles. Some of the small ones also provide top quality automobile storage services.

The advantage of going for small firms is that they can design their service packages according to the requirements of their clients. Large firms maintain their own standards and are not all that flexible when it comes to providing features and services. Moreover, one can get the services and features from the small firms at affordable rates in comparison to those offered by the big firms. They offer quality services, provide good security for the vehicle and provide environmentally regulated storing areas for the vehicles. Some of these firms are formed by people who have owned vehicles for generations and are technically well experienced in providing automobile storage amenities and services.

It is always better to store the vehicle in a place from where it is easily accessible. After using the vehicle the owner can place it in the storing area conveniently. But if the storing area happens to be distantly located, the owner will have problems in accessing his vehicle on a regular basis. It is not only the big firms which provide good client support services, but even small firms are offering round the clock client support and supervisory services. They appoint staff that is dedicated to supervisory jobs throughout the day. When vehicles are maintained under such stringent supervision, one can be assured of that the automobile storage is giving them the best environment for their longevity.

Apart from storing the vehicles, the firms also conduct periodic checks on the vehicle to assess the condition of its parts, clean the vehicle, take it out on a test drive and perform any other tasks that are necessary to keep the vehicle in a good and working condition. There are some special measures that have to be taken for the vehicle under incompatible climatic conditions. Many of the firms provide winterization services to prevent the vehicle from getting damaged during the extremely cold winter conditions. Most of the automobile storage houses have adequate infrastructure to take care of recreational vehicles also. They provide top class storing conditions and services to luxury vehicles too.

Wine retains its quality only when it is preserved under optimum weather conditions. Otherwise, its quality suffers and it loses its charm. Just like human beings, their favorite drink also ages as time passes and hence it is very important to store it in a good wine storage to retain its youthfulness that is expressed by its flavor. The factors that need to be manipulated to preserve the desirable characteristics of wine are air, temperature, light, vibration and humidity. Each of them has the following effects on wine.

• Air accelerates the aging process in wine. It oxidizes wine and makes it age very fast. This changes the flavor of wine. In no time the intoxicating taste will turn out to be an offensively sour taste. Hence wine should be stored in glass containers and corked up. This will keep the wine out of contact with air and hence slow down the aging process. Though a little air might always be present in a wine bottle, using a moist cork will keep away air from outside. If the wine is stored in the wine storage horizontally, the cork will not crack or shrink.

• The optimum humidity for preserving wine is 70 percent. If it is greater, the cork will develop fungal and other organic growth whereas under dry conditions the cork will shrink or crack letting in air.

• The best temperature at which the alcoholic beverage can be stored is 50 to 55 degrees Fahrenheit but the lower limit and the upper limits can always be stretched to 40 degrees on the lower side and sixty degrees on the upper side respectively. Temperatures lower than the permissible are going to shrink the cork which is going to let in the air and temperatures higher than the permissible are going to age the beverage rapidly.

Even though stored in a wine storage with good temperature control amenities, a factor that has a significant impact on the ageing of the beverage is the rate of temperature fluctuation. In a given period of time if the temperature falls or rises or rapidly, the wine is going to deteriorate. If on the other hand, if the temperature remains fairly constant, whether high or low, in a given period of time, the beverage is not much affected.

• Light is the next agent that causes damage to the beverage. Exposure to light, especially UV rays causes damage and even though the bottles are coated with UV filters, light rays still manage to enter the bottles resulting in an offensive flavor. It is better to place the bottles in a wine storage where light does not enter, or in a room which has fluorescent bulbs rather than incandescent lights as the latter are known to emit more of ultraviolet rays.

• Vibrating the bottle that contains the beverage is also said to have an effect on the aging process of the wine as vibrations tend to stir up the sediments from the bottom of the bottle which accelerate the process of aging. The beverage should never be shaken just before consumption.

If a person is not a regular drinker of the beverage and wishes to drink it months after purchasing it, he should store it a wine storage where it is protected against all factors that promote its aging. Some people prefer to store this elite drink in cellars, but proper cabinets are always a better option.

Storing your household items like beds, tables and chairs can be pretty difficult, especially when the house is too small to accommodate all the items. When moving from a big house to a small one, many of the items of use are rendered useless. Hence they should be stored well as they are valuable. It is better to store them in specialized furniture storage houses provided by firms offering storing services. But there are certain preliminary factors that have to be taken care of before packing the items for storing them.

• It is always better to plan out the items that need to be stored before packing them. There is no point in haphazardly packing things one after the other for storing them. One needs to observe the items that he would be requiring for immediate usage and for usage in the near future. The items that are to be stored should be carefully identified. They should be the ones that will not be used for some months to come in the future. Otherwise one will have to keep visiting the storing units every now and then which can be a pretty laborious and time taking task to do.

• Furniture storage should not be dumped with any item that finds rare usage. When shifting from one house to the other there will definitely be some items that will not find place in the new house. The items that are in a good condition can be stored. It is better to dispose the others even though they might not fetch a very good price.

• A list of all the items that are to be sent to the storehouse should be made. Then it is better to categorize the items according to their monetary worth and get those items that are expensive insured. Though the firms provide quality storing facilities they cannot be taken for granted. The furniture storage might be subjected to some kind of calamity due to which the items kept in it might get damaged.

• A specific pattern of arranging things in the warehouse needs to be followed. Those items that will be required the least should be put at the extreme end of the storing place while the ones that are frequently utilized should be put towards the nearest end as they will be easy to access from there.

• Though many of the storing firms pride good protection to the items stored in them, there are some preliminary measures that one has to take in order to protect the items in them. The furniture storage places usually keep the items in clean and neat rooms but protection of the individual items is not ensured by most of the firms.

Some of the precautionary measures are that the items should be wrapped properly in cloth or paper packaging to prevent getting scratched. They can be packed in bags, plastic covers or bubble wraps for that additional covering. It is always a better idea to wrap wooden and metallic furniture in covers that offer hundred percent protections against humidity as humidity tends to damage wood and corrode metal.

All mattresses and upholstery should be packed in such a way that there is free flow of air through them. Otherwise in the furniture storage some fungal growth might develop.

Winter is approaching and it is time to think about protecting private cruisers in the best possible manner as they are one of the biggest investments that people usually make in. By following some simple boat storage guidelines one can maintain his cruiser for a long time in a good condition. This starts with making concrete plans on the procedure to be followed for storing the cruiser.

Cruisers are stored for long periods of time, to the tune of some months, in the storing spaces. Hence, a routine should be followed in preserving them in good working condition. During winters the extremely low weather conditions can be detrimental to boats. The motor and the trailer also need to be taken care of along with the boat. If one is careless about the storing procedures, the boat will get damaged and might not survive the harsh climatic conditions. Boat storage requires working methodically and regularly to maintain it in good condition. There are some items that are required for protecting the cruiser against the severe winter conditions. They are oils that prevent fogging, stabilizer of fuels, sprays that prevent corrosion, spray lubes, trailer jacks and toolboxes.

The fuel stabilizer is a very important substance for motorized vehicles. One of the foremost things that have to be done is to add the fuel stabilizer in the ratio of one ounce of stabilizer for a gallon of the gas in the fuel tank. The fuel tank needs to be kept full to prevent the residual gas from condensing, getting oxidized and ultimately getting spoilt. In the case of the absence of any fuel that is not doped in the fuel tank, before sending it to the boat storage it is preferable to drain the fuel apparatus. The VRO and OMC motors should be drained.

The next thing that should be done is to start the flusher and leave it on for about fifteen minutes during which time it will get warm. The fuel that is treated should spread throughout the entire apparatus. Next, the carburetors should be coated with the fogging oils. A number of cruisers come with a mechanism that makes this process convenient. Finding inlets might prove to be difficult at times, but the process is inevitable because giving a fogging oil protection to the carburetor is of utmost importance for maintaining the cruiser in a healthy condition. Usually the engine tends to smoke excessively during this procedure but such behavior is seen to be absolutely justified under the given conditions.

The next step of the boat storage winterization process is to detach the flusher and draining the gear apparatus after the motor is run. The gear apparatus should be drained free of water with great caution because otherwise the water in it might freeze causing the gear case to burst during winter. The presence of a milky fluid is an indication that the prop shaft seal needs to be replaced. Avoiding this activity might result in complications later on. After this, the spark plugs can be inspected for their working condition and if there is any defect, they can be replaced.

The other steps of boat storage during winter requires spraying the fogging oil on the cylinders, cleaning the housing and electrical connections of any dirt or grease and spraying anticorrosive chemicals on the connections, cleaning the steering cable, disconnecting and removing the batteries and treating them with anticorrosion chemicals.

One of the best self storage secrets is the selling of moving and storage supplies on site.

Inevitably, no matter how prepared a self storage user thinks they may be, there is always something they may need. Why not make sure they can purchase it while renting at your facility? Simply having the supplies on hand will definitely lead to a sales increase.

Many self storage business owners offer locks to purchase on site, as new tenants are required to place a lock on the unit at the time of rental. But what about some other items they may need before ever coming in to store?

Boxes are one obvious choice, but the storage facility that offers an “extensive line” of moving and storage supplies has better chance of watching their sales increase.

Think about it! How many customers call to inquire about rental rates for storage units? These are people you know are going to be in need of moving and storage supplies. Why not make them available for purchase at your own facility? Try using this phrase at the close of a rental inquiry call, “We carry an extensive line of moving and storage supplies, so please drop by if you need anything.”

Even if you don’t have the best rate or the right size, you can still offer something you know their going to use! If your facility is “conveniently located” near the home of a potential renter, you might be able to offer your services whether they store with you or not. Help them out with their move, and you might even get them to use your storage. Offering moving and storage supplies can also bring customers to your facility for a site visit (whether they know it or not)!

Don’t forget! If your facility does happen to sell boxes and a shopper comes in to purchase one, make sure to ask if they are going to eventually need storage as well. You may just turn a box sale into a storage rental.

Tressa L, Phone Smart newbie raises an important topic for new tenants
Welcome to the PhoneSmart self storage blog, a diary of the self storage industry.

There have been a series of calls coming in from customers who have just finalized their paperwork, received their access codes and are ready to store.

Generally the customer is going down to the facility to finalize the paperwork and then leaving to return later with their belongings. When they get to the gate they are unable to access because the gate code is not working.

One way that we can help from our center is that during our closing we run down the fees and other items to let the customer know that they should make sure the gate code is working and that they have their lock on the door of the unit. For customers who have returned when the office is closed and a manager is not available, calm down and take a deep breath. It could be something wrong with the gate or something wrong with the code. We realize that this could be an inconvenience, however if you bear with us we can help you leave a message for the manager and they will make sure everything is taken care of. Remember it may be raining today but the sun will come out tomorrow!!

Customer service with a touch of sales

Your confidence level could make or break a call. Either you’ll leave the customers feeling like they’re ready to complete the transaction, (as long as everything else goes well… pricing, location, etc) or you’ll leave the customers just plain confused and uncertain about completing the transaction with your company. The more knowledge you have about what you’re doing the more confidence you’ll have when dealing with the customer… and it shows.

Here’s a few suggestions that you may want to implement into your training.

You normally would find one of 3 different types of rental inquiry callers:
 “I’m not quite sure and I have no idea what I’m looking for. Can you please help me?”
 “You don’t need to tell me anything I’m not asking you.”
 “I think if you simply answer my questions without first finding out a few things, then you’re not helping me to the best of your ability. “

If the 1st question a customer asks is “how much are your units?” What ever you do, do NOT simply answer their question. Why? Because you don’t have enough information to ensure that you are giving the caller the right information. Of course you’ll have callers who may get frustrated at first because they don’t understand why you didn’t give them the answer they were seeking. So in any case, always explain yourself.

Ever been to a doctor/dentist who simply said “time for your check up” and starting probing and prodding without ever explaining what they were doing? How did you feel? Confused? Concerned? Wondered what in the world are they are doing? Not such a good feeling.

Even though you want the caller to play by your rules, you definitely want to explain what you’re doing and why you are asking certain questions to help the caller feel more at ease.
Example:
 “Well, let me ask you a couple of questions first so I can make sure I give you the correct information, o.k.?”
 “How long are you renting for so I can see if I can get you an extra discount?”
 “How soon do you need a unit so I can see what’s available?”

Practice answering questions with a question to help get the ball back in your court and keep the flow of the call moving. You don’t want to lose the caller because you gave them all of the information they were seeking before you could get the information that you needed to make sure you helped them to the best of your ability. Remember, any question will do, so long as it relates to their question.

Example:
Caller asks “Do you have any specials?”
Try… “How long are you renting for so I can see what type of specials we have?”
During the conversation, you want to get as much information as you can.

Even if you answer a customer’s question, counteract with another a question behind it… like tennis. Keep it going, if you don’t, game’s over!

Think of it as “give and take”. Good interaction with your customers is key for Great customer service with a touch of sales.

Have a great day!

Robin

Welcome to the self storage blog, our diary of our experiences in the self storage industry.

Our call center employs several Spanish (bilingual) speakers as an added convenience to our customers. At any given time we are ready to take any calls for people that might feel more at ease speaking Spanish. I was listening to some internal calls for quality checks and one caller started out speaking English with one of our reps.

At one point in the call they switched to speaking Spanish. You could tell by the tone of the call that the caller immediately felt more comfortable speaking Spanish. This increased comfort level made it far more likely that we could close a sale for our client company on that call.

Are you able to offer your customers options when they call? Even knowing a few phrases in Spanish will help you with a Spanish call until you can transfer the call to a Spanish speaker.

Hello……………Hola (the h is silent)

I don’t speak Spanish………………No hablo Espanol

One moment………………………Un momento

My name is …………………………Me llamo _________

What is your name? ……………………Como se llama?

Thank You……………………………Gracias

Goodbye…………………………Adios

Being able to be flexible and accommodating to your customers will pay off for you in the long run. Word of mouth in cultural communities is free advertising. Cultural communities are very loyal to those businesses that can help them fairly. At the same time, a bad experience can spread like wildfire through a community. Be careful how you choose to present your business, it can mean success or failure.

Adios,
Natalie
