  • Mini Price Self Storage Security Options
By admin on March 23, 2009 | No Comments Comments

Renting a mini price self storage is undoubtedly the most convenient solution for you to store your specific belongings that you can no longer keep at your home or office because of lack of space. By shifting these things to a storeroom, you can free up a lot of space at your place, and use the same in a more productive way. However, even if you are paying a very small amount as rent, it is very important for you to make sure that your stuff is stored in a completely secure way. You are strongly recommended to review the security options provided by the facility before you sign up with them. Here is a brief rundown about the same.

    Hours Of Operation

Before you rent a mini unit, the first thing that you need to do is to make sure that the hours of operation suit your specific needs. Every storing house works as per fixed hours. For security reasons, you will not be allowed to access the facility after the working hours. If your personal schedule does not match with these hours, you will probably like to contact other storehouses. Some companies do provide round-the-clock access to the storeroom.

    Lock-Down Facility

When it comes to renting a mini price self store facility, you will also have to make sure that the company provide you the lock-down facility. This is a special feature that many companies offer. In this system, a manager will be present every time you access your storing unit. This is very important from security point of view, as it gives your belongings a higher level of protection.

    Business Storing

If you are renting the unit for business purpose and you need to have deliveries accepted at the mini unit, you will have to clarify everything before you sign up. You must ask the company about the following things.

    • Whether the facility accepts deliveries on your behalf. What are the specific provisions for the same
    • Whether the manager will be present at the time of delivery
    • Whether the company allows you to deliver the things right your storing unit. Will you be able to drive the truck up to your unit
    • Depending upon the type and location of the storing house, are there any limitations for the delivery trucks in terms of size
    • Whether they accept deliveries anytime during the facility hours or the deliveries are limited to specific timings and days only.
    • Do they charge additionally for this service

    Locks And Other Security Systems

No matter which mini price self storage you choose to go for, it is very important for you to ensure that the security system is fool-proof. You are recommended to use your own locks for this. Also choose a property that is well lit and completely fenced in. If it is dark or the light arrangements are not good at the storeroom, you will have great difficulty accessing stuff from your unit.

A good store room facility also has a keypad entry system at the main gate. Once you register a unit, the company will provide you a unique access code. Last, but not the least, there should also be a video surveillance camera in your storeroom.

  • Let’s Hear It For Customer Service

Welcome to the PhoneSmart self storage blog where we blog about self storage trends in the self storage industry and more.

Just the other day I had an interesting encounter with the customer service people of my cell phone carrier. I had some technical difficulties with my phone and they had to give me a new one. I had downloaded a few songs and games and had asked the technician what I could do about that. He told me to give him about 5 minutes and call customer service and they would credit my account. So I waited a little longer and then called. The first person I talked to told me he didn’t know what the person in the store had told me but he was wrong.
At first I just wanted to leave it at that but then I remembered that the Wheel of Fortune game gets charged each month and I can’t play it anymore so I called customer service again. Funny, the lady I got this time told me that I can be credited for the downloads. I said well why did the other guy tell me I couldn’t? She just replied I got a different call center. So I hung up the phone with credit, but I still don’t know why I had to call again to get the correct response! This is very frustrating. Now if I could change cell phone companies I would. Just because of the misinformation I received, but I cannot as I’m locked in for another year and a half!
What I have learned from this experience is that the information we give needs to be the same across the board. If a customer calls in for a self storage unit and we tell them everything they need to know, then they should be able to go into the store and purchase that unit the way it was described over the phone. If the store has spoken with the customer and then we tell them something else we look as if we don’t know what we are doing! So we have always had the policy in place to be thorough on each of our calls to be sure we give the correct information. When a customer is not told everything on the first call it may make it harder to obtain that sale because of misinformation.
