    Gain A Competitive Edge

Climate control units are one of the most important features that place of safekeeping owners offer in order to get an edge over their competitors. These are special units that are equipped with heating and air conditioning. If you want to attract more customers and keep your existing customers also satisfied, climate control is an essential feature to offer. People these days rent storing and cargo space units to store an array of items for months and some times even years. There are certain things which if exposed to uncertain climate, such as excessive humidity, may get ruined. These things may include electronic items, clothing, books, and even furniture. A unit with climate control feature keeps such items in the same condition for as long as they are stored.

    Meet Your Customers Demands

Climate control self storage maintains various factors, such as dust, wind, humidity, and temperature. It is very important to have a system to control these factors in order to prevent the stored items from warping, getting mildew or mold. Depending upon the specific type of items that are being stored, the unit may prevent the temperature from rising above eighty degrees or falling below sixty degrees. Your customers will love such features, as when they store their belongings in a controlled climate, they will have the peace of mind that their possessions are completely safe and secure.

If you are new in the storing business and are not sure about whether you should invest in climate control systems for your units, you should look into how your competitors are using this feature. A thorough evaluation will help you decide how to have this feature in your safekeeping units without raising the price substantially. If you want to get an edge over your competitors, you may have to offer climate control self storage at a very small price. This will help you attract more customers. In any case, the wide array of benefits that these units have to offer will far outweigh the additional amount of money you may have invested to get this feature.

There can be a wide array of things that may need the climate control feature. Some of those things may include fine furniture, fine linens and clothing, retail inventory items, oil paintings, mattresses, and musical equipment. It is true that not all items that your customers are going to store will need this feature. Therefore, it is very important for you to keep this feature optional.  You can obviously charge an additional fee if the customer opts for climate control units. They will also be willing to pay this additional cost because they will consider it as an investment to keep their belongings safe for a longer time.

Overall, you should always look at the competition in your area in order to find out the kind of services they are offering. In order to give a kick start to your business, you should focus on providing some additional services at a very affordable cost. For example, if your competitors are not offering the facility for climate control spaces in their facilities, you can easily win more customers by offering this feature in your facility.

Wendy Lane, early morning PhoneSmart representative speaks out about those early calls.
Welcome to the PhoneSmart call center blog and insider diary of the self-storage industry.
It’s funny how people think that because we have an onsite manager that they are open 24 hours a day to answer storage questions. I arrive at work at 6:30 am daily. The amount of calls we take in the morning varies greatly depending on what time of the month it is. But when I get here usually one of the first calls is about some boxes or a billing question. On the east coast it is 7:30 am, and if you’re looking for storage units in Miami, FL then the store could be open that early. But on the west coast it is like 4:30 am but we do have people calling that early for various issues. I guess they think the managers don’t sleep.
That’s why PhoneSmart is here. To catch those calls early as it may be we catch them. Of course we have lots of coffee here to help us. Sometimes we can turn the occasional box call into a storage reservation if they need a storage unit too. Sometimes they call about the boxes now but really are going to need a storage unit later. So that’s why we always ask, “Are you going to need self storage as well?” That question can be our “in” to get the reservation depending upon how far in the future they need a unit. So if you have not used PhoneSmart before, now may be a good time to use us to catch all those early riser calls!!!
