Assume The Sale

A good sales technique I have learned from Jim is to assume the sale. When you call someone you just assume that the customer is going to purchase or reserve with you. If you are confident in what they need, they are confident. So if I am positive that this is the closest self storage facility to them and the cheapest, they will too. With our abilities in our call center, we are able to ensure the closest and the cheapest storage unit. We work hard to find the best facility for our customers; we almost always have several choices for a customer to choose from. We ask if they are moving in a certain direction or if they drive by a certain facility everyday on their way to work. But if they leave it up to us, we are going to pick a facility, and it’s usually going to be the one with the cheapest rate. In the self storage industry, you learn that most people are storing because they don’t have anymore room in their garage or basement. They don’t really want to spend as much as they do on their mortgage or their rent; they just need a safe and reasonably priced unit. With all the choices out there, I guess you can call that job security.
