Angela Perry’s Autobiography
-
As I stated in a previous self storage blog, I was going to write about my fellow employees to show appreciation of each and every one of them. As a trainer and an employee of the Phonesmart call center family for 3 years, I have grown to know each employee on a personal and professional level. I will first begin with myself. As I already mentioned I am a call center trainer for about 2 of the 3 years that I have been employed with the call center.
I will not reveal my age but I will say that I am over 25 years of age, the age that one’s car insurance goes down, anything after that and before the golden birthday, fifty, does not matter. So now that the age thing is out of the way. I graduated from high school in the 20th century and I found out that I was adopted when I was 14 years of age and went to live with my biological family at that age. After graduation, I joined the United States Army. I served for almost five years and during my time I have only been state side and had the privilege of jumping from a perfectly good flying airplane (yes airborne) but hey I got to wear a beautiful maroon beret because of it! During my time in the military I met my now ex-husband and had a son, RJ (Ralph Jr.). After that I returned to my hometown, Columbia Missouri in 2000.
In 2002, my husband and I were divorced. In 2004 is when I became employed with the Phonesmart call center and in 2006 is when I was given the title of a trainer. Since then I would estimate that I have trained over 30 people. Some of them worked out and some of them did not, but that is with any job. Some of my strengths are that I have a pleasant phone voice. I am patient with the caller and training group. I like to look at myself as a thorough person. I do believe that repetition is the key; therefore I will repeat things over and over. My training technique is pretty different from the average trainer. I’m not into a long lecture of information that is overwhelming or in boring someone. Instead, I try to make jokes to see if the trainees are still listening (a laugh or a smile usually indicates one or the other). I speak in stories or phrases because what I have found is that people relate to personal experiences. This also adds a realistic touch to the training mode. Also, I give an explanation why the call center does what they do in the order that it is done. There are 3 other trainers beside myself and hopefully I will be able to blog about them as well. As far now, this is all that I have for myself, Angela Perry.
