History of StorageMart
The founders of StorageMart are some of the most notable pioneers of the self-storage industry, with a presence in the storage business since 1974.
The principal founder set out on what would be the start of a storage legacy when he, his wife and 3 of their children took a family vacation to Texas. Hoping to create lasting memories in the Texas sunshine, the family was disappointed, to say the least, that it rained the entire time. So what do you do with 3 kids on vacation when the rain will not let up? Drive around looking for new business opportunities, of course.
The family happened upon a building lined with steel doors. After several drives past it, they decided to stop in and see what the storage business was all about. After a chat with the owner there, this true entrepreneur bought the leasing rights to a Texas self storage site for 10 dollars.
When the family arrived back home in Columbia, Missouri, no time was wasted expanding the business and the family purchased their first self storage property in their hometown. Since that time, the family has bought and sold that original property 3 times, and has ownership of the site today.
StorageMart is a private, fully integrated real estate operation company with a focus on developing and acquiring self storage properties that make use of the newest security technologies and amenities in the industry.
StorageMart recently grew from 70 self-storage properties to over 130 stores by acquiring a Canadian storage company. Today, there are StorageMart locations in 14 States within the USA and 5 Provinces in Canada.
